A call regarding "fraud" was received. Did not identify the organization calling. Requested last 4 digits of SSN but said could not hear me. Asked instead for full SSN or account number which I unfortunately provided. Then they said that the office was closed until Monday.

Rec'd a letter on the letterhead of bank of America(?) stating that they were investigating recent QUESTIONABLE CHARGES OR CASHTRANSACTIONS ON AN ACCOUNT ENDING IN XXXX {NUMBERS] AND GIVING A 800 472 7970 NUMBER TO CALL. I DID SO AND GOT A PERSON ON THE PHONE WHO GAVE ME A NAME AND AN AFFILIATION THAT I DID NOT HEAR CLEARLY. sO I ASKED HIM WHOM I HAD CALLED AND HIS NUMBER. HE SAID A NAME AND THAT I HAD REACHED HIM ON HIS CELL PHONE. HE THEN ASKED ME SOME OF THE USUAL SECURITY QUESTIONS--FULL NAME, BIRTH DATE, DID I HAVE THE CARD IN MY POSSESSION. SINCE THE THE THE "LAST FOUR DIGITS' IDENTIFIED IN THE LETTERS WERE FOR A CREDIT THAT I DID NOT RECOGNISE, I DECLINED TO ANSWER ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS. I ASKED HIM TO FURTHER IDENTIFY THE CREDIT CARD. HE DECLINED, SAYING HE NEEDED TO VERIFY ME BEFORE HE COULD PROCEED AND SAID HE WOULD GET A SUPERVISOR ON THE LINE TO GET US THROUGH THE VERIFICATION PROCESS IF I COULD HOLD ON FOR A FEW SECONDS. ABOUT A MINUTE AND A HALF LATER A FEMININE VOICE CAME ON THE LINE, IDENTIFIED HERSELF AS BEING WITH THE FRAUD DEPARTMENT OF BOA, WHEN I QUESTIONED THAT, SHE OFFERED ME HER IDENTITY NUMBER AND STARTED TO ASK ME SOME . I SAID THAT I SUSPECTED THAT SHE WAS THE FRAUD AND HUNG UP. I SEARCED THE WEB FOR THE NUMBER, WHICH LED TO THIS WEB SITE THAT LISTS FIVE OR SIX INSTANCES OF SUSPICIOUSLY FRAUDULENT NATURE. NOW I WIL CALL THE REAL BOA.

caller said they were from the US customs and borders and have an open non criminal case in the narcotics department. I don't travel and feel this is a fraud. They also used my maiden name.

stating that they are ar law office and they have a lawsuit against me and continuing on and on about charges they have against me. They have been reported to the FTC by me and also to the company that the mentioned to me that they stated that they got info from. I also contacted the credit bureau to request a fraud alert.

said she was a lawyer calling as a courtesy avoid a lawsuit. never heard of the litigants, i have no afilliation
